本集精介 為紀念「古樂界的卡拉揚」霍格伍德於2014年逝世，DECCA一連推出四套專輯，包含收錄兩張CD與一張藍光音樂片的「韓德爾：彌賽亞」（478 8160）、32張CD的「海頓交響曲集」（480 6900）、20張CD的「巴哈作品錄音」（482 1736），以及本套韋瓦第（Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, 1678-1741）專集。
收錄於本專輯的錄音為霍格伍德與其親手創立的古樂學會樂團所演出的韋瓦第作品，包含《調和的靈感》（L'Estro Armonico Op.3）、《奇異》（La Stravaganza Op.4）、小提琴協奏曲（Opp. 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12，包含「四季」小提琴協奏曲）、長笛協奏曲（op.10）、雙簧管協奏曲、巴松管協奏曲、大提琴協奏曲，以及各式的大協奏曲（concerti grossi）。此外還包括全部的大提琴奏鳴曲、以及清唱劇「愛情，你贏了！」（Amor, hai vinto）、「世上沒有真正的平安」（Nulla in mundo pax sincera），以及聖樂作品：《聖母悼歌》（Stabat Mater）、《若非上主》（Nisi Dominus），以及甚受歡迎的《榮耀頌》（Gloria）。另外還特別收錄巴哈根據韋瓦第作品所創作的《四部鍵盤樂器協奏曲》（BWV1065）。
整套專輯包含20張CD，以限量精緻盒裝發行。錄音真實捕捉這位巴洛克音樂專家霍格伍德所欲呈現的音樂樣貌，讓樂迷得以見識巴洛克時期最具代表性音樂家韋瓦第的現代價值。而透過這套專輯，樂迷們更得以感懷這位對音樂充滿激情並對其專業滿懷熱忱的偉大指揮家。
專輯附錄霍格伍德生前為本套專輯特別撰寫的論文「詮釋韋瓦第」（On Performing Vivaldi）。其中為回應某些人的批評：韋瓦第只是同一首協奏曲重寫了500次。他表示：「只要聽過《調和的靈感》（Op.3）或是《和聲與創意的實驗》（Op.8），所有的誤解都將會消失。它們擁有多變的曲譜、完整的作曲計畫，活潑如風景畫，以及充滿挑戰的演奏技巧，每一首協奏曲都自成一個世界」。
